The Moscow Design Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Moscow Interior and Design Week present an updated exhibition "110 | Russian Design 1915–2025". The exhibition, which has been supplemented by 80 new exhibits from the past and present, continues to tell how styles and trends in Russian design have changed.

The exhibition, which can be called a "reader of domestic design", presents both "well-deserved" examples, such as the neo-Russian style chair "Arc, Axe and Mittens" by Vasily Shutov (1870), "empire" lamps for the Moscow metro by Abram Damsky and the "Spidola" radio receiver inspired by a lady's handbag, and modern experiments - for example, a rocking horse MIA printed on a 3D printer from recycled plastic by Eburet, a clock-hut on chicken legs by the ceramics brand "Lukomorye", Oculus mirrors by Decora Glass.

The section dedicated to constructivism has been supplemented with a lifetime collection of works by the artist Sergei Chekhnin and poems by Vladimir Mayakovsky, and costume sketches by the artist Varvara Stepanova. The foundation laid by Soviet avant-garde artists still means a lot to domestic designers. The modern brand of designer furniture Trend Red presented a chair with a double back with the telling name "Architect", and the Odingeniy workshop - a modular shelf with references to Suprematism.

Soviet design of the 1960-1980s was maximally functional, but was not "boring". A striking example of a non-trivial approach is the asymmetrical TV "Evening", developed by designers of the Leningrad branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Technical Esthetics. In the 1970s, designers got tired of standardization and realized that it was much more interesting to design not universal products "for everyone", but specialized ones, for narrow groups of consumers. This is how design programs appeared. A unique example of the Soviet design program "Clocks" was the model of a table clock by Tatyana Olshanetskaya. A new collectible design object can be called a "bridge" from Soviet modernist design to a contemporary meta-modernist approach - a console of an unusual shape from the Mrs Ruby company, which can simultaneously remind one of the first Soviet satellite and surreal "melted" entities from surrealist paintings.

After passing through the historical halls and sections dedicated to modern technologies and materials, viewers seem to make a circle and find themselves in a part of the exhibition dedicated to the Soviet and Russian cultural code in design. Designers are again interested in the past and folk art and draw inspiration from ancient fairy tales and Soviet archetypes - such as, for example, the "GoreleNog" toy and the "Gorynych" pillow from the "Kudykina Gora" brand, the MATRЁSHKA lamp from the "Tsentrsvet" company, the "Lemekh" bags from Deel Wear and "Sguschenka" from Pepfer.

The partners of the exhibition this time included Avito, which established the first industry award "Furniture of the Year". The award helps domestic manufacturers to strengthen their reputation, buyers to find and choose quality furniture from local suppliers, and the event as a whole serves as a discussion platform for businesses, experts and buyers.

Exhibition tours will be held every Sunday from 15:00. Admission is free with a ticket to the exhibition. Tickets can be purchased on the website of the State Tretyakov Gallery.

Moscow Interior and Design Week, one of the largest events in this area, acted as a co-organizer of the exhibition. More than 45 participants of the event formed the basis of the modern part of the exhibition and presented over 100 items, demonstrating how the industry is developing in Russia today.

A special partner of the Moscow Design Museum exposition was MANTERA SUPREME, the flagship luxury hotel in the Mantera Hotels line, which is opening on the Black Sea coast in Sirius.

The opening partner was MosBuild, the largest international construction and interior exhibition in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe.

The strategic partner of the Moscow Design Museum is CENTERSVET.

The technical partner was the furniture manufacturer Otechestvo. The company provided racks and exhibition equipment, which became the basis for the exhibition solution of the exhibition "110". Otechestvo produces furniture according to individual projects, completing commercial and non-commercial objects: from cabinet and upholstered furniture, products made of natural stone to interior bas-relief.
The company carries out scientific and educational activities for students of leading architectural and design universities, and also cooperates with the design schools "Details" and "Geometrium School".

We thank the Russian manufacturer of environmentally friendly paints FAMA PAINT and oils BIOFA for the color in the exhibition.
